Wearing a cowboy hat and a Nirvana t-shirt, Joey Allcorn instantly became one of the favorite local singer / songwriters. That was several years ago and now Allcorn with his all-star Hillbilly Band have released "The Nashville EP"

This is not your father's country music. Even though Allcorn can croon and yodel in the traditional sense , this record is more reminiscent of Hank III than Hank Sr. The five song EP is titled after the old EP records that came out in the 1950's after 78's but before LP's were introduced.

The Hillbilly Band features Robert Earl Lowery on Doghouse Bass, John Key on drums, Jack Snipe on lead guitar, Charlie Davidson on steel guitar and dobro, and Paul Singletary on the fiddle. They go all out on every cut but the title track "In Nashville, Tennessee" has to be my favorite. Fast paced alt-country that showcases the players with lyrics that grab you right out of the gate.

The only complaint I have is that the damn CD needs to be an LP and not an EP. I was left wanting more of the same good stuff. The band will be selling "The Nashville EP" at shows and on their website www.joeyallcorn.com.

They plan on hitting a few open mics in Columbus to give local fans a shot at grabbing the limited edition copy of the disc. With only 150 being pressed you best go ahead and pick one up for your personal collection. The Nashville EP will be in constant rotation on the road or at home.
