June 17th 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Country music artist, Joey Allcorn is headed to Washington, DC this week to advocate Hill staffers to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act, a bi-partisan bill that sits on the floor of the Congress and the US Sentate as the deadline for the proposed CRB royalty rate crisis looms on the horizon. The rates threaten the existence of a wide range of internet radio webcasters as they are due to go into affect on July 15th. The impact is of concern to a multitude of countless indpendent musicians who have come to rely on internet radio to build and reach their fan bases. ”My music isn’t heard on mainstream radio.” says Allcorn “My career depends on the promotional exposure that internet radio gives me here in the US and internationally.”

Allcorn will be representing the Roots Music Association is his role as True Country delegate, but more importantly he’ll be speaking as a working independent artist trying to pave a path for his music in the midst of today’s corporate business model that exists in the music industry. Allcorn will be joining other independent artists from a multitude of genres from rock to bluegrass asking for Congressional support.

In addition to meeting with Hill staffers on Tuesday, he will be performing at the SaveNetRadio rally on Monday night at the Upper Senate Park at Constitution and Delaware Ave on the evening of Monday, June 18th.
